Palaui Island is a Philippine volcanic island that is located within Barangay San Vicente in the municipality of Sta. Ana, Cagayan Valley, an area which is known for its sailfish. Approximately 642 kilometers northeast of Metro Manila, Palaui Island is known for having some of the best beaches in Cagayan province. Its combined land and sea territory cover about 7,415.48, of which 3,000 hectares consists of land area alone. It has a 20.6 kilometer shoreline. The island serves as a watershed, with a number of falls that drain fresh water into the sea. It has been declared a protected landscape and seascape and it is soon to be named a National Cultural Property by the National Museum of the Philippines.
